Description
You are bidding on a rare antique trade catalog from The National Acme Company, Windsor, Vermont. The catalog is from 1920. It is a List of Parts for 1 1/4" Multiple Spindle Gridley Automatics. ICatalog has great illustrations. 32 pages.
In 1915, National Acme acquired the Windsor Manufacturing Company of Vermont, which produced Gridley-brand multiple spindle automatic machines. It was a wise move as demand for that product spiked during World War I. But its reliance on the defense department left vast surplus inventory and underused buildings at the conclusion of the war. The Great Depression that followed nearly ruined the company.
I conducted a search and could not find another brochure like this for sale anywhere.
The brochure is well used and has many smudge marks from a greasy-fingered mechanic who evidently needed to order parts. The cover has a sticker from Johnson Washer Co., manufacturers of Electric Washing Machines, of Oakland, CA.
Wonderful addition to a collection! Very rare!
Great gift idea!
