Why not refinish the tired looking instruments on your classic bike?  If you have average craft skills, a bench vise and a few common tools you can do the work accomplishing what would cost you over 0.00 to have done by a professional instrument restorer.  This auction consists of appliques to cosmetically refinish the tachometer, speedometer, and indicator console of the Honda Goldwing GL1000  The process, in addition to restoration, also allows conversion of speedometers from MPH to KMH or KMH to MPH. Of course the odometers will continue to roll in the original configuration but the speed will read accurately according to the converted scale. The kit includes polyester appliques to refinish the center indicator console as well as a brand new metal console faceplate. (most fell off years ago since the adhesive holding them on became brittle). The 1975, 76 and 77 set includes three polyester instrument appliques, one for the speedometer and two for the tachometer. (The additional one for the small temperature plate in the tach.). One advantage of this auction and process is that if you have a 1975, 1976 or a 1977 bike and need to find a replacement instrument it doesn't make any difference which of the three years you locate to refinish. The instruments for those 3 years are identical except for the instrument faces. Our process allows you to refinish the face of the instrument in any of the 3 year configurations. One must process both the speedometer and tachometer to get an exact match however because there always has been some color change of the originals, no matter how well they have been cared for, even NOS instruments.
When processed, according to complete instructions provided, it will accomplish an accurate restoration of instrument faces which have become faded and/or crazed. Even if the faces are warped, providing they are not shrunk, they can easily be flattened by following included instructions. The instructions cover, opening, processing and closing of the instruments and applying the indicator console set. T
he 1978 and 79 set consists of only 2 appliques since the temperature gauge is not in the tachometer for those years. Except for the odometer slots which are best left for precision trimming after application, the appliques are pre-trimmed and pre-punched. The winning bidder can select the 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, or the black 1976 LTD appliques. We also can supply the set with the KM/H speedometer for all of the aforementioned models. A custom black on white set is also available for all of these years. If you purchase this item we need information on the bike you are ordering the kit for. What is the model year and which speedo, MPH or KMH?  If it is a 1976 is it the LTD?  Is it a Euro model  in which the center console does not have the "Head" and "Tail" indicator, or is it like the picture on this ad which does have the "Head" and "Tail" indicator?  If it is a Euro model does the tachometer read x1000min or x1000rpm? Also do you want the regular color or the custom black on white instrument faces?
