Black Bottom is a dance done to the Black Bottom Stomp, which became popular in the 1920s. It originated among African Americans in the rural south before becoming a nation-wide craze, partially due to its success in the musical comedy George White’s Scandals of 1926 which played on Broadway. This dance overtook the Charleston and became the number one social dance, although some dance critics pointed out that by the time it had become a fad it had started to resemble the Charleston.
Baby Face is a popular song from 1926, with music by Harry Akst and lyrics by Benny Davis. An instrumental version of the song was used in the 1933 film of the same name. In 1934 Swan Districts, an Australian Rules club in the WAFL based its club song on the tune. It has been performed many times over the years by performers such as Paul McCartney, Bing Crosby, Julie Andrews, and a version was even done by the Muppets.
