    in numismatics.
    First attempt to
    catalog

    medieval and modern
    coins
    minted in Italy

    Italians

    was compiled by
    Vittorio
    Emanuele
    III
    of Savoy,
    with the collaboration
    of the most experienced
    numismatic
    era.
    It is still
    important
    for the study
    and classification of
    emissions from
    different
    mints
    Italian
    in the Middle Ages
    .
    The work remained unfinished
    due to the outbreak
    of the Second
    World War.
