The SKF bottom bracket is the best gravel, touring, or road square taper bottom bracket on the market. The secret to the longevity of any bearings is a combination of materials, size of the bearing, and the bearing seals. SKF has made the shell of the bottom bracket, as well as the spindle itself, the outer bearing races, rather than jamming balls between bearing races, then pressing those races onto a spindle and into a bottom bracket shell. That means the balls are bigger. Bigger means more impact resistance and longevity. Combine that with contact and non-contact labyrinth seals, and you've got a set of bearings that is not easily contaminated. There is of course, a catch: the spindle is stainless steel, which is more brittle than chromoly. The SKF bottom bracket is not rated for off road use as a result. But for everything else, if you need a square taper bottom bracket, and can handle the price tag, get this one, and forget about it for 50,000 miles. Made in Germany.
